5 Juicy Top Tips For Getting The Best Out of Social Media Platforms

We’re in an era where social media is everything and everywhere, so instead of ignoring it we should embrace it and use it to its full potential. Here are my 5 top tips for doing just that.

Tip 1 –

Keep the goal in mind

Followers and subscribers don’t just appear out of nowhere and sometimes it’s easy to get side tracked, so it’s great to know what it is that you are trying to achieve with your post before writing and posting. Whether your goal is to get more visibility, build a community or increase your sales, remember to keep that goal in mind and be strategic in your approach.

For an obvious example; if your goal is to build a community, it would be better to opt for a more positive, interactive and engaging post style that gets people chatting in the comments, than simply posting a picture of a product. You might get an extra sale or two, but the content is not personal enough to achieve that goal of community.

Tip 2-

Don’t be afraid to Interact,

Get to know your target audience, reply to their comments, ask them questions. The more likeable you are, the higher the chances of your branding being likeable too! So have fun. Yes, stay professional, but don’t be afraid to join in with your own audience.

Word of mouth and sharing content is the best form of free advertisement!

Tip 3-

Be consistent,

As the saying goes, “Paris wasn’t built in a day” … the same applies to building your social media presence. It can take months to years to build up a large number of followers sometimes. But with great content that gets seen regularly, it will happen.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who has scrolled through Instagram, seen someone hilariously brilliant, followed but forgot their name and then never saw content from them again.

If you want your platform to be seen, keep being present. It doesn’t need to be daily. It could be 2-3 days a week, once a week or even bi-weekly- but if you are consistent, you will see the benefits eventually.

Included on The Lemon Pens list of services, we do offer a Content Planning Calendar. This is something that would be made specifically for you so that you can have an organised and realistic schedule for all of your online posts. All the posts would be pre planned and time managed, which brings me onto the next tip…

Tip 4-

Timing matters

What type of lifestyle do you know your target audience typically has? Do they work 9-5, night shift workers or even parents of young children who are probably unavoidably up at 2am? Think of when they might be scrolling on social media. The 9-5 workers are probably not going to look at social media at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon, but they probably will when 7pm rolls around. You don’t want to miss a chance for the people who need to see you seeing you, by posting at the wrong time of day.

Contant Calendars include this all in for you too, taking a lot of stress and time used up overthinking off your shoulders.

Tip 5-

Quality matters

On average, 50-60% of people will simply scroll past if content seems low quality or the hook doesn’t happen in time (e.g., too long of an introduction before getting to the point), regardless of what the content is.

So maybe getting yourself that new camera would be financially beneficial after all!

Put yourself in the viewers shoes? Would you click on that thumb nail? Don’t let low quality prevent you from getting a great product, service or message across.

TO SUMMARISE

Keep goal focussed and join in with your own online community. People are more inclined to like individuals’ content when the content creator is involved, fun and seems on their level. That personal touch is worth its weight in gold. When you find someone who appears genuine, you would be more likely to support them or even just hear what they have to say. Not everyone will buy your products or services, but that extra view will have boosted your content in the algorithm, and it all adds up. Keep it consistent, keep it good quality, time it right and you’ve got a great formula for a successful online presence.

I hope this has been helpful.
